‘University town’ Notre Dame offers unique learning experience

28 June 2017

When Notre Dame Nursing student, Megan Winter, was deciding on her tertiary studies, top of her wish list was the opportunity to study in a university town environment.

“I had read about the university towns of Europe and the US, where you study within a real community environment, where the hustle and bustle of everyday life – and the people who make it happen – is all around you,” Megan said.

“As a country girl from Albany, I wanted to feel part of the community vibe, a close knit environment that allowed me to connect and share experiences with my fellow students. And, of course a great learning environment with support from lecturers who really care about their students’ success.

“I had only heard good things about Notre Dame and its reputation. This is primarily why I chose this university for my studies and the course has more than met my expectations.”

Located in Fremantle’s historic West End – a stone’s throw to the beach, walking distance to more than 40 restaurants and cafes, and to all forms of public transport, Notre Dame has gained the reputation as one of Australia’s top universities.

The University’s focus on practical learning, face-to-face support, and mentorship from lecturers and staff is designed to fully prepare students for their future careers and the Student Services team helps students find on-and-off Campus accommodation.

Independent student surveys underscore the success of this unique approach. According to results of a recent nationwide survey commissioned by the Federal Government, Notre Dame is the #1 university in Western Australia for ‘Overall Quality of Educational Experience’, ‘Teaching Quality’ and ‘Student Support’ (qilt.edu.au).
